A Chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bode Ola, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the decisive steps his administration is taking to address the persistent insecurity challenges across Nigeria.
Speaking in Abuja on the current security landscape, Ola described President Tinubu as a leader who listens to criticism and “walks his talk,” noting that the President’s proactive approach marks a significant departure from inaction in previous administrations.
“President Tinubu has demonstrated that he is committed to securing the nation,” Ola stated. “He listens to the people, takes their concerns seriously, and acts decisively. This is the kind of leadership Nigerians need at this critical time.”
He also hailed the appointment of General Musa as the Minister of Defence, asserting that the decision would strengthen Nigeria’s defence architecture and improve the operational efficiency of the military. Ola emphasized that competent leadership at the helm of the Defence Ministry is crucial to tackling terrorism, banditry, and other security threats confronting the country.
Beyond the Defence Ministry, Ola highlighted the pressing need for legislative action on state policing. He called on both President Tinubu and the National Assembly to expedite deliberations on this long-debated issue, arguing that state police would complement federal security agencies and provide timely responses to security challenges at the local level.
“Security is a shared responsibility, and localised policing will empower communities to protect themselves while supporting national efforts,” he said. “The creation of state police is a necessary step in ensuring peace and stability across all regions of Nigeria.”
Ola further urged citizens and stakeholders to support the government’s initiatives to secure the nation, emphasizing that collaboration between the government and the public is key to achieving lasting peace. He expressed confidence that with strong leadership and committed personnel, Nigeria can overcome the security challenges that have plagued the country for years.
The former lawmaker reiterated his endorsement of President Tinubu’s leadership and expressed optimism about the future of Nigeria’s security landscape. He called for patience, support, and unity as the administration implements policies aimed at safeguarding lives and property nationwide.
