Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri has rewarded gold medalists from the 2024 National Sports festival in Ogun State with the sum of N1,000,000.00 each.
All silver and bronze medalists are to receive the sum of N500,000.00 and N300,000.00 respectively.
Winners of team events were equally rewarded as well as medals winning officials.
Receiving the contingent led by the Commissioner for Sports Development, Hon. Daniel Igali, Governor Diri who described the third position announced by organisers of the games as not the true position of the Bayelsa performance charged the athletes to begin immediate preparation for a better outing in the next games billed to hold in Enugu, Enugu State.
While congratulating Team Bayelsa for making the state proud, the Governor noted that the state has started a bidding process for the hosting of the 2028 sports festival.
