In a bid to promote physical health, team spirit, and camaraderie among its officers and staff, the Eastern Marine Command (EMC) of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has partnered with the Association of Heads of Federal Government Establishments (AHFGE) to host a Work–Life Balance and Aerobic Exercise event at its headquarters in Port Harcourt.
The Customs Area Controller of EMC, Comptroller Chika Dim, while delivering his opening remarks on 29 Judeliveredthe message of the Comptroller-Gener. Hel of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, urging officers to embrace holistic wellness as a foundation for improved productivity.
“We are committed to ensuring our officers are not only physically fit but also mentally resilient,” Comptroller Dim said. “A healthy workforce is a productive workforce, and this initiative reflects the Service’s renewed focus on staff welfare and morale.”
Representing the Rivers State chapter of AHFGE, Vice-Chairman Abdul-Salami Babatunde, who spoke on behalf of the Chairperson, Ifeyinwa James, expressed appreciation to Comptroller Dim for his dedication to the wellbeing of officers. He commended the EMC lwell-being for championing initiatives that enhance work culture and staff motivation.
The programme featured a Work–Life Balance session, where experts sharWork–Lifecal strategies for managing time and reducing stress, followed by aerobic workouts and team-build. This wasng exercises designed to foster collaboration and interpersonal connection.
Participants lauded the event, describing it as both energising and impactful. In response, the EMC and AHFGE pledged to make the initiative a monthly fixture, reinforcing their joint commitment to cultivating a healthy andated workforce.
