The Comptroller of the Federal Operations Unit (FOU), Zone ‘A’, Mohammed Shuaibu, has embarked on courtesy visits to security agencies and traditional institutions across Lagos and Ogun States.
During a visit to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, on Thursday, 26 June 2025, Comptroller Shuaibu emphasised the importance of unity in securing the nation’s borders and curbing criminal activities.
He said, “We are serving the nation, so we must synergise and collaborate. We enjoy more of your synergy because you are the lead agency regarding internal security. We are here to consolidate our existing relationship, and I still need your support in many areas, especially in terms of criminality, so that we can share information occasionally.”
In his response, CP Jimoh assured Comptroller Shuaibu of continued cooperation between the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Customs Service.
“We have been working together over the years and will ensure that our relationship is strengthened for better service delivery. I assure you that we will strengthen this cooperation to achieve maximum national productivity.”
During his visit to the Nigerian Army 81 Division, Comptroller Shuaibu described the military as a critical partner in frontline operations.
“As you all know, the Nigerian Army is a critical partner. Some of our operations are carried out in collaboration with the Nigerian Army”, he remarked.
The General Officer Commanding (GOC), Major General Farouk Mijinyawa, received the Customs delegation and acknowledged the Comptroller’s reputation for excellence. “We know you are coming here with a great wealth of experience, which is highly required now. We welcome you and assure you that we will continue working to ensure you achieve your mandate effectively.”
In further demonstrating inclusive leadership, Comptroller Shuaibu paid homage to several traditional rulers in Lagos and Ogun States, seeking their blessings and support for the service’s operations.
Among the royal fathers he visited were the Akran of Badagry, His Royal Majesty De Wheno Aholu Menu Toyi I, the Alapa of Apa Egun Awori Kingdom, Oba Oyekan Ilufemiloye, the Akweno of Kwemen Kingdom, Oba Sejiro James, and the Onibereko of Ibereko, Oba Adewale Okoya.
In Ogun State, he met with the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewa Land, Oba Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, the Onikpokia of Ikpokia, Oba Yisa Adeniyi Olaniyan, and the Olu of Owode Yewa South, Oba Matthew Akindele.
“We are here to build on the policy thrust of our Comptroller General, which includes consolidation, collaboration, transformation, innovation, and synergy with host communities. As my predecessors have always built solid relationships with you, I am coming here today to do that, Shuaibu said.
The traditional rulers pledged their full support and offered prayers for a successful tenure.
As part of his field assessment, Comptroller Shuaibu also visited officers stationed at the Apa/Owode and Gbaji checkpoints and encouraged them to maintain professionalism in discharging their duties.
