The Zonal Coordinator for Zone ‘A’, Assistant Comptroller General (ACG) Charles Orbih, has praised the Seme Area Command for its notable infrastructural developments and operational strides.
During an official visit to the Command on Wednesday, 25 June 2025, ACG Orbih lauded Comptroller Ben Oramalugo for delivering impactful projects aligned with the vision of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi.
He remarked, “Projects such as the renovated COWA building, upgraded sports complex, and newly commissioned officers’ mess reflect the CGC’s commitment to excellence.”
“As we move forward, the bar has been raised for Zone ‘A’. Our past achievements must serve as stepping stones, not resting points. I urge you all to leverage our strategic relevance to meet the evolving demands of Nigeria’s economy and security,” he added.
ACG Orbih also outlined the Nigeria Customs Service’s seven strategic priorities for 2025: Full deployment of trade modernisation initiatives, complete implementation of the Authorised Economic Operators (AEO) programme, enhanced risk management through technology integration, operational launch of the NCS University, and strengthening international partnerships under the AfCFTA framework. Also, the rollout of a robust Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy and the promotion of open governance through transparency and stakeholder engagement.
He assured officers of upcoming welfare improvements, reflecting the Service’s commitment to professional growth and staff well-being.
In his welcome address earlier, Comptroller Oramalugo described the visit as a morale booster and shared notable achievements since assuming office on 11 February 2025.
“I have prioritised excellence, innovation, and collaboration to drive meaningful progress. Between January and May 2025, we generated ₦3.58 billion, thanks to enhanced compliance and risk management strategies.”
Regarding anti-smuggling efforts, he revealed that the Enforcement Unit intercepted contraband worth ₦889 million, including hard drugs and foreign currency valued at ₦48.97 million.
He also expressed gratitude to sister agencies and traditional institutions, acknowledging their crucial role in the Command’s operational success.
