The Lagos State Government, on Monday, organised a sensitisation programme for middle-level officers of the Lagos State Public Service, themed “Embracing Change and Uncertainty”. The programme, held at the Debt Management Office in Alausa, aimed to equip participants with the necessary skills and mindset to navigate the complexities of a rapidly changing world.
Through expert presentations and interactive sessions, participants gained valuable insights into embracing change, building resilience, and thriving in uncertain environments. The programme underscored the Lagos State Government’s commitment to capacity building and employee development, enhancing service delivery and driving innovation in the public sector.
By investing in its workforce, the Lagos State Government continues to promote excellence and drive progress in the State. This initiative demonstrates the government’s dedication to empowering its employees to excel and contribute to the state’s growth and development.
Dr Folayinka Dania, the Chief Resilience Officer for the State, while giving her welcome address, acknowledged the prime position Lagos State is enjoying because of its inherent proactive nature and resilience. She also noted that public officers cannot go to sleep banking on past glory, but instead stay resilient.
According to Dr. Dania, “It is, however, imperative to recognise that past successes are not guarantees for future triumphs. To maintain Lagos State’s trajectory of excellence, we mustn’t rest on our laurels. Instead, we must stay resilient, adaptable, and forward-thinking. This requires embracing change and uncertainty with an open mind, leveraging innovation, and continuously upskilling to stay ahead of the curve.’
Dania called the attention of participants to some resilience challenges and realities confronting the world today, noting how the AI phenomenon and the ongoing Israel-Hamas-Iran conflicts are impacting every sphere and making resilience even more essential.
She subsequently charged participants to embrace resilience. According to her, ‘It is obvious, therefore, that embracing change and building resilience is crucial in today’s fast-paced world. This sensitisation will equip you with the tools and strategies to thrive in uncertainty, drive innovation, and enhance our service delivery to the people of Lagos State. By doing so, we will not only sustain our reputation but also drive future growth, prosperity, and development for the State and its people.
Amina Yeside Hamza, Bold Perception Consult, Team Bonding Activity facilitator, effectively simplified resilience mindset in highly challenging situations and uncertainty by engaging participants with several highly interesting games.
Elegushi Aminat from Lagos Television commended Lagos State Resilience Office for the highly engaging sensitisation workshop and believes it will have immediate positive impacts on participants, respective offices and Lagos State public service as a whole.
