A Group of Professionals “APC INTEGRITY GROUP, Ekiiti State Chapter has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing competent Nigerians to drive the cardinal “New Hope Agenda” of his administration.
“The appointment and redeployments of an Ekiti born Metallurgical and Materials Engineer, Mr. Kayode Ojo in three Federal Universities within six months of his first ever political appointment has shown that, President Tinubu valued his competence, brilliance and strategic skills at developing the Society”.
The Group gave the remark in a Statement jointly signed and made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti by its State Coordinator, Hon. Tajudeen Adeyeye and General Secretary Elder Oso Kayode.
“The rapid progression of an academic administrator through positions of increasing responsibility at multiple federal universities represents a compelling case of study in leadership excellence and institutional management.
The latest redeployment of an astute, Engineer and businessman cum politician, Mr. Kayode Ojo from the Federal University, Lokoja after he had served for about three months at the Federal University of Oye Ekiti (FUOYE) to one of the oldest and leading Universities in Nigeria, the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) as a Coucil Chairman and Pro- Chancellor is commendable.
As a Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) and Federal University, Lokoja (FULOKOJA), Ojo had demonstrated his ability to foster institutional development through strategic planning and stakeholder engagement. In addition, he was instrumental in strengthening academic programs, enhancing infrastructural development, and ensuring fiscal responsibility. His leadership helped position both universities as a rising hub for innovation and research in Nigeria.
Therefore, his latest redeployment to UNN was in no doubt aimed at examining qualities and competencies that could have enabled such an exceptional career advancement in higher education administration, using the case of his appointments across multiple prestigious Nigerian federal universities, within a very short period of time.
For a leader to be successfully transitioned between different institutions, within such a short time , he must have possessed exceptional adaptability and strategic skill, vision and integrity.
Also such Leader must have the ability to quickly understand new institutional contexts and challenges and dexterous skill in developing and implementing strategic plans that aligned with each university’s unique mission and the flexibility in adjusting leadership approaches to different institutional cultures, cutting across the South West, North Central and now a South East located Federal University.
The APC Integrity Group noted that, the rapid progression through leadership roles at multiple federal universities demonstrates exceptional administrative capability, strategic vision, and leadership skills. Such advancement is not merely about individual talent but represents a combination of proven competence, strategic thinking, and the ability to deliver results consistently across different institutional contexts.
The “magic wand” that has taken him to this pedestal is not magic, but rather a combination of hard work, demonstrated excellence, and the ability to drive positive change in complex academic environments.
The pattern of success provides valuable insights into the qualities needed for effective leadership in higher education administration through administrative Excellence and dexterity as demonstrated in the places that Mr. Kayode Ojo had served both as a Businessman and Pro- Chancellor.
While congratulating the new UNN Chairman and Pro- Chancellor on his new place of work, the Group charged Mr. Ojo not to be detracted but rather continue to put in his best to Maintain high standards of professional conduct, demonstrate consistent performance, show ability to adapt to new challenges quickly, build and maintain strong professional networks to justify the confidence repose in him by President Tinubu.
