The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat has expressed sympathy over a traffic accident which occurred in the Aiyetoro area of Epe Township in the Epe Local Government area of Lagos State, on Monday.
The accident, according to reports, involved a truck ladened with cement, which reportedly had a brake failure, claiming some lives while several others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
In a statement, the Deputy Governor said, “With a grieving heart, I commiserate with the families of the victims and pray to God Almighty to console them. I also pray for the repose of the departed ones, and quick recovery to those injured. It is quite unfortunate that a sad incident happened at this point.
“Once again, I am deeply saddened by the sudden and tragic loss of the affected victims. May their families find solace in the love and support surrounding them and may the pains of this loss be eased by the cherished moments they shared with them while alive. My thoughts are with you all”, the Deputy Governor stated.
He also used the opportunity to implore motorists to ensure that their vehicles are in good condition before bringing them on the road, stressing that the accident could have been averted.
“I urge our traffic agencies to make sure that drivers obey traffic rules, including the maintenance of their vehicles. This should be done without necessarily harassing or extorting money from them”, Hazmat said.
