As Nigeria marks 61 years of independence, the country still has a lot to learn from the past and brace up for the future if the country will fulfill her potentials.
Lawmaker representing Ekiti North Federal Constituency 2 in the house of Representatives Honourable Hon. Ibrahim Olanrewaju said this in Abuja while speaking to 24 NewsTV.
Honourable Olanrewaju said a lot has changed on the political landscape of Nigeria in last six decades has technology has been deployed to make the process of legislation more effective and effecient.
He however said it is important for the crop of politicians today to borrow a leave from the first republic where the country has a more principled parliament and political parties with ideology.
The lawmaker laments the rise in insecurity in the country which he said is affecting development.
Also speaking on the achievements of the All Progressive Congress led government in Ekiti state, the parliamentarian said the Governor KAYODE Fayemi administration has done quite well in the last three years.
He said that huge amount of debt and unpaid salaries left by the previous administration in the state is being addressed by the present government in the state.
Despite paying backlog of salaries he inherited, governor Fayemi has also gone ahead to fix many abandoned Infrastructural and projects across the state.
Hon. Olarewaju said the Gov. Fayemi administration has shown with transparency, accountability and prudent management of resources, a lot can be done for the people.
